Co-located Workshops

Two co-located workshops, "Visualization Meets AI Workshop" and "Workshop on Visualization for the Digital and Public Humanities (DPH-Vis)", will be held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis conference 2025.

Visualization Meets AI Workshop

The task of data visualization generally involves a design step, which requires the knowledge of the data domain and visualization methods to do well. Because of the immense design space for optimization, it can take both novices and experts substantial effort to derive desired visualization results from data for exploration or communication. Following the resurgence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in recent years, in the field of visualization, there is a growing interest and opportunity in applying AI to perform data transformation and to assist the generation of visualization, aiming to strike a balance between cost and quality. The use of visualization to enhance AI is the other active line of research. This workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE PacificVis 2025, aims at exploring this emerging area of research and practice by fostering communication between visualization researchers and practitioners. Attendees will be introduced to the latest and greatest research innovations in AI-enhanced visualization (AI4VIS) as well as visualization-enhanced AI (VIS4AI), and also learn about further research opportunities. The workshop will be composed of full-paper presentations, short-paper presentations, and invited talks.

Workshop on Visualization for the Digital and Public Humanities (DPH-Vis)

Digital Humanities is a research field that aims to bring new insights to the humanities through scientific methodologies centered on computer science and technology. In the current era of big data, the digital data handled by Digital Humanities has become more complex, massive, and multi-source.

In this context, a new trend in Digital Humanities has emerged, aiming to involve a broader range of people from various fields in discussions within the humanities through interdisciplinary research utilizing digital technologies. This trend is known as “Digital and Public Humanities (DPH).” In this interdisciplinary fusion, visualization should play an essential role. Therefore, we are launching a new workshop titled “Workshop on Visualization for the Digital and Public Humanities (DPH-Vis)” as part of PacificVis 2025. This workshop is not just a gathering but a platform that fosters new interdisciplinary collaboration. We welcome researchers from various fields, both in scientific and humanities areas.

Visualization for DPH involves a variety of visualizations: high-quality visualization, feature-highlighting visualization, AI-assisted visualization, immersive visualization, visualization of digital twins, multi-source/multi-dimensional visualization, time-series visualization, story-telling visualization, and many others. We welcome research contributions to any visualization and visual analytics targeting humanities data.
